Project Narrative
Scaffold Resource was honored to take on the 46,000 square foot renovation of this National Treasure and historic museum displayed on the National Mall. Our team designed, installed, and dismantled a system scaffold system as means of vertical access for the preservation and restoration of the building’s historic fabric. A large dance floor was designed & installed to allow multiple trades the advantage of access for plaster repair, and to restore the decorative beams, columns, and mouldings. Additionally, a temporary exterior stair tower allowed for the skylight renovation and more natural sunlight to the museum.
Infrastructure renovations of the halls and new “Fossil Lab” buildout required bracing support and lateral bracing beams in three areas throughout the halls to support the columns. These involved 4 columns on the 1st floor requiring support and 10 lateral braces, and 2 additional columns with support and 2 lateral braces.
