Project Narrative
At the Long Bridge Aquatic Center in Arlington, Virginia, we encountered a complex challenge: replacing corroded sprinkler heads embedded in the tiles above the competition pool, which had to remain filled and operational throughout the project. Draining the pool, typically the straightforward approach, was not an option due to the center’s schedule. Additionally, the building’s structure prohibited us from suspending scaffolding from the ceiling.
To address these constraints, we engineered a custom rolling scaffold system built on trusses that functioned similarly to railroad tracks. This innovative solution allowed us to efficiently move the scaffolding across the pool area without disrupting ongoing activities. The scaffold system was carefully brought into the center in segments, ensuring safe and manageable transportation within the facility. This project is a testament to our ability to devise creative solutions that meet client needs without compromising on quality or safety.
